about/contact

I'm an artist, art teacher and arts administrator. I live with my family on the coast of Maine, a place I've called home for nearly 20 years.

I have a degree in studio art, a certificate in education, and work experience in different fields along the way. I divide my time between studio work, teaching art, arranging exhibits and overseeing accounting at the museum I co-founded.

I've found photography is often a starting point for me because having a camera in my pocket keeps my eye active as I go about my daily life. It's rare that I set out on purpose to photograph. The images I collect sometimes end up being edited with Photoshop and printed on fabric or become the basis for compositions.

I'm interested in the connections between natural and man-made patterns, distortions of scale and perspective, and the methods of mending and repair. Recently I've been researching how movement and time can be expressed in drawings (from choreographic notation to vintage overlaid sewing patterns). I love playing with color and pattern and spend some of my time this way working on quilts or collages.

I'm fortunate to be informed and inspired by my work with students, including a weekly drawing session.
I read, knit and play with my kid a fair bit too.
